Propane is one of the most efficient energy choices available. And when used properly, one of the safest. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when working with propane and propane appliances.

First, know what propane smells like. An odorant is added to propane to give it a "rotten egg" smell. If you suspect a gas leak and detect this odor, leave the house immediately. Do not use the phone or turn on or off any lights. Call your retailer from a neighbors phone.
