NPGA Applauds House and Senate Introduction of the
Propane Green Autogas Solutions Act ("Propane GAS Act") of 2011

NPGA President and CEO Richard Roldan noted, "The Propane GAS Act offers the kind of policy commitment necessary to continue building the propane autogas market. The level of private investment in alternative fuels that Congress anticipated when they created these incentives is much more likely to occur when the availability of the tax credits in the long-term is assured. Extending these tax credits will move this country towards greater use of clean, domestic fuels and the increased use of propane autogas will provide consumers and fleet operators with a clean, domestic, abundant and efficient alternative to fuels derived from foreign sources."

Propane-specific tax credit legislation introduced

FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission...NPGA's team of lobbyists have succeeded in convincing key Senators and Representatives to introduce legislation extending for five years the three critical tax credits for propane autogas. S.1120 was introduced by Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD), Roy Blunt (R-MO), and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), while H.R. 2014 was introduced by Representatives John Carter (R-TX), Dan Boren (D-OK), and Mike Rogers (R-AL). This is a critical development in our strategy to ensure parity with other alternative fuels and consumer choice for vehicles in the marketplace .. .We are confident that this will provide momentum for our efforts to add other Representatives and Senators as cosponsors to the bills, which is our #1 priority for Propane Days...
